CONSERVATIVE WRITING COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The winners of the Conservative Leadership Foundation’s inaugural Conservative Writing Competition have been announced.
James Paterson from Victoria was the overall winner, receiving the James Power Prize consisting of $2500 cash, return flights to the United States and leadership training with one of the CLF’s international affiliates.
His essay examining the role government should play in a free market economy was an outstanding piece that is featured alongside other entries in this CLF publication that showcases the work of these young leaders.
Felipe Serra-Martins won a category award for his essay discussing how the family unit is at the core of society and Sarah Robinson won a category award for her piece regarding political correctness and free speech. Both category winners have received a $500 cash prize.
“James, Felipe and Sarah all wrote excellent essays and are deserving winners of the inaugural competition,” CLF Chairman Senator Cory Bernardi said.
“The competition provides all young conservatives with a unique opportunity to think critically about key issues and for their work to be published.”
James Paterson said “the opportunity to participate in this competition and have my essay published has been a fantastic experience.
“I am very much looking forward to undergoing leadership training in the United States and thank the CLF for this opportunity.
“I would encourage any other young conservatives that are interested in developing their leadership and advocacy skills to get involved with the CLF.”
