James Paterson - 2011 Essay Winner

James Paterson is the Associate Editor of the IPA Review at the Institute of Public Affairs, and is completing the final year of his Bachelor of Arts & Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of Melbourne.

James regularly appears in national print, radio and television media speaking on political and policy issues.

James received the James Power Prize for his essay discussing the limited role that government should play in a free market economy in the inaugural Conservative Writing Competition.

"No university-affiliated essay writing competition will ever allow for – let alone reward – the exploration of ideas like limited government, personal responsibility and individual freedom," James said following the competition.

"I’ve got no doubt that I will be a better advocate for freedom in Australia thanks to the training I received as the winner of the 2011 Conservative Writing Competition.

"I encourage all young Australians on the centre-right to get involved with the CLF – it is an organisation that deserves your ongoing support."

Campus Action Plan

The Campus Action Plan (CAP) is a program to assist university students in their efforts to support centre-right ideas on campuses around Australia.

The CAP provides students with all of the assistance they need to run successful campaigns.

Pre-existing campaign templates are available for various events throughout the year that can be celebrated by conservative students. Celebrating events such as ‘Dismissal Day’ not only upsets the often uncontested leftist ideologies on campuses, but also serves as an opportunity to educate other students about the true course of history and the dangers of collectivist policies.

Read to Lead

The CLF’s Read to Lead program offers conservative thinkers the opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding of conservative history, ideas and beliefs.

There are many thousands of books written by conservative authors on a wide range of conservative topics. So rather than searching through them all, let us do the leg work for you!

The Read to Lead program provides subscribers with a new title to read every three months, delivered to their door.

You can subscribe to the program for yourself or you can purchase a subscription as a gift for a friend or relative.
